Flatwater Canoe Trip Ideas

Flatwater canoe trips are for folks who want the calm and tranquility of canoeing on wilderness lakes.

You can explore the wilds of Quebec at Parc LaVerendryé, including traditional hunting and fishing grounds of Canada's first peoples. "Lav" has quickly become our first choice of locations for flat water canoe tripping. In this wondrous tripping area, you will easily find solitude in your own out-of-the-way spaces at LaVerendryé.

Closer to Montréal is Parc Papineau-Labelle with a multitude of attractions from playing in waterfalls, to sunning on a crystal beach, to climbing the firetower and trying to spot the rare Bald Eagle. Parc Papineau-Labelle is a prime location for those who are unable to travel far from the Montreal or Ottawa area.

In Eastern Ontario, you can wander the ancient Pine forests of Temagami. These forests are again in danger of disappearing to logging, so if you can, experience them before they are gone.

Algonquin Provincial Park is called the "Crown Jewel" of Ontario Parks, and with good reason. The experience of Algonquin's treasured Barron canyon, the colourful history of Canoe Lake, the mysterious story of Tom Thomson, and the haunting call of the wolf in moonlight, paint one of the enduring wilderness pictures in Canadian history.

On Georgian Bay, the turquoise and emerald lakes of Killarney Provincial Park lie nestled like jewels amid the crystalline LaCloche Range. Each campsite in this park seems to outdo the next in beauty and charm. While the park draws a large number of visitors each summer, booking in advance will guarantee that our campsite is waiting for us each night.
